Holy Faith Church was the first organization of any kind in Saline to become Dementia Friendly. Their hosting of the 2019 In This Together lecture series on dementia awareness was an early example, as is their continuing commitment to supporting the Come As You Are Memory Café.
So it was past time for Dementia Friendly Saline to present Pastor Andrea Martin with an official recognition of the congregation’s efforts to make living in Saline more comfortable for persons dealing with dementia.

February 2022 - College Students Become Dementia Friends
The student-led Perfect Pair organization of the University of Michigan matches student volunteers with older persons living in residential facilities who are in need of companionship.
Begun as a local initiative offering virtual visits to senior citizens isolated during the pandemic, Perfect Pair has become an ongoing program at multiple university campuses.
Because a portion of the older residents served are also living with dementia, Perfect Pair asked Dementia Friendly Saline to provide several workshops to their volunteers.
At one virtual workshop, 40 students from four universities learned how to be Dementia Friends. Several Perfect Pairs have attended Dementia Friendly Saline’s Memory Cafes.
